Advanced PV Design
Advanced PV Design  (PVOL.201)

The Advanced PV Design course is the continuation of the PV Design . It focuses on the National Electric
Code (NEC), including grid interface calculations, grounding considerations and wire sizing, economic
analysis.

This course is optimized for architects, engineers, licensed or journeyman electricians, general contractors,
and other home-improvement contractors looking to add solar-electric systems to their existing service
offerings. Students should be familiar with common Windows PC operations , basic trigonometry & algebra
and working with fractions and percentages.

The instructor supported track is a six-week, Internet-based, online course. The other track is self based..  
Registered student will be issue a   Student ID a Password that will allow then to access a  
Moodle virtual
class-room. Student will then be able to download  the class material, participate to a group discussion and
upload the assignments.

  • Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Evaluate grid-tied system with and without batteries
  • Size disconnects and overcurrent protections
  • Size grounding wires and grounding and grounding Electrode conforming to the NEC standard
  • Performed advanced wiring
  • Calculate optimal spacing between modules
  • Understand the NEC codes and standard relative to the proper installation of  photovoltaics systems.
  • Learn how to service common photovoltaics systems

Student will receive a copy of SEI's photovoltaic Design and Installation Manual and the NJTAC Photovoltaic
Systems.
